Key Responsibilities
Project Management & Planning
The Landscape Crew Leader, Installation will:
- Review and interpret landscape designs, site plans, and installation instructions
- Plan daily crew tasks based on schedules, weather, and site conditions
- Coordinate tools, materials, and equipment needed for each installation phase
Crew Supervision & Development
As a Landscape Crew Leader, Installation, responsibilities include:
- Leading, motivating, and supervising landscape laborers and technicians
- Providing hands-on instruction and reinforcing safe work practices
- Supporting onboarding and training of new team members
Construction & Installation Execution
The Landscape Crew Leader, Installation will:
- Oversee and perform installation of plant material, turf, mulch, and hardscape elements (patios, walkways, retaining walls, irrigation systems)
- Ensure all work aligns with specifications, grades, and layout plans
- Operate machinery and equipment safely and efficiently
Quality Control & Site Management
The Landscape Crew Leader, Installation must:
- Monitor job site cleanliness, equipment condition, and safety compliance
- Identify quality issues early and implement corrective actions
- Track labor hours and material usage accurately
- Submit clear, timely documentation
Customer Communication & Problem Solving
The Landscape Crew Leader, Installation will:
- Communicate updates, progress, and concerns to Operations Managers and clients
- Resolve unexpected on-site challenges quickly and professionally
- Represent the company in a courteous, service-oriented manner
Requirements
Experience & Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Experience: 2–3 years in the landscaping industry; installation experience preferred
- Leadership: 1+ year of leadership experience, ideally as a Landscape Crew Leader, Installation or similar
- Licensing: Valid driver's license required; DOT medical card or equipment certifications a plus
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of landscape installation, grading, hardscape layout, planting, and irrigation basics
- Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced field environment
- Proficiency with construction tools and equipment (skid steers, trenchers, compactors, power tools)
- Ability to adjust schedules and crew assignments due to weather, delays, or site conditions
- Strong organizational and recordkeeping abilities
- Clear, professional verbal communication
- High attention to detail and strong commitment to safety
